Publication
Publication
This here is the final cut on the Publication I designed, after lots of blood sweat and tears (Metaphorically speaking!) I have finally got there! After weeks of reinnovating and editing, Editorial is the Wonderful world of Innovation!
Front Cover
With this to cover I think it works well as a final because the imagery of as bold it stronger and the dynamic is more I captivating for front cover to get people to read especially with the word Scutelliphily because it’s our hard work to know what it means as it’s a Latin word and it makes people want to know what it means and by drawing badges visually people get a good understanding of what the title means and I like the fact that the veggies are all colourful and that I’ve taken the imagery from the veg box of remedies that I made inspired by the cabinet of curiosities.
Contents Page... Finally Spelt correctly!
Here is a much cleaner version of the contents page where every page has an & when it is in every page number has an Amazon and they’re all in the same font size and the consistency is better so it has a much cleaner flow. To which I personally like this variation much better.
Introductory Pages
On this double page spread I’m going to focus on the & and with the text around it and what I liked about that is the fact that I followed some feedback that Jack said about on zoom where he said I should try adding the text into the & which is why I’ve done what I’ve done there and the spacing is dreadful I admit but I wanted it like that just because its eye captivating and a lot of what’s in the spread with what I’ve written contains a lot of vans so I figured if I put the text in the & sand it will look more ascetically exciting
Within sale I’ve pretty much kept it the same as throughout and the only thing
I’ve changed is the typography and making sure it’s consistent and that the imagery
isn’t stretched which was something and picked up on when I asked her about
my publication.
Rainbows Spread
Soon as they out here I kept it the same again but the only differences I made was making sure that the typography match the colours of the badges of from my collection with the b big Typographic characters And I added the rainbows across the spreads like how I’ve cut the lines in with the other spreads but I’ve done it as rain but it’s because that’s what the badges were for when I had my experiences at rainbows and I was little in my childhood.
Memories
This page I’ve kept the same throughout except for the change of typography that’s the only difference I say with this Double Page spread.
Peter Blake Spread
For this double page spread i.e. followed The similar ascetic to the face website where on their homepage it’s repetitive imagery with a slight space between the chip picture as feedback from Liam are you’ve decided to follow that because I wanted to see what it look like and it turns out I liked this sort of imagery and it worked for me so I went along with it and it came out as a positive outcome. It’s one of my favourite spots out of the entire publication.
This Spread has now been developed and I prefer this one because there is actually colour in this imagery and it’s from one of the colourings I did based on my artwork and to try and add to the website though that’s where the image come from but I wanted to put that in because it’s a nice simplistic image with different blends of colour and it’s a completely different aesthetic but also very simplistic as well and is the eye now looks like an eye instead of another line on the page which was something that was picked up on.
Tracey Emin & Sarah Lucas
With this double page spread, I have kept it stylistically simplistic in the sense of using their work as the background along with my view on badge collecting with some more text below it. I have used the yellow highlighted box to emphasis the text so its not overpowering or hard to read I did this in the same sort of way as I did with the half circle on the Peter Blake spread.
Latch Spread
With this layout I kept the layout the same as the spread on the second variation of the publication with the only difference is I got rid of the information on the bottom of the page (below the word Hierarchy) from what Anne suggested I should do.
Inventors Spread
This spread here is basically the same layout as the previous version apart from the change of typefaces.
NHS Spread
With this spread here, I have changed the layout quite drastically, by cutting out the background in the photo of the badge and I have laid it out in a more simplistic aesthetic with the text laid out simply and more legible and with negative space also.
I have kept the layout the same, the only changes I made in this version is the alignment and the layout of the type in this spread putting it in the gaps of the layout is it is legible to read and easier to follow.
With this layout I changed the perception of this spread by drawing the Hieroglyphics from A-Z and put onto a vintage background so it looks like a reading of Hieroglyphics along with the type saying Egyptian in an asymmetric layout with a drawing of Anubis put on the lefthand side to show the traditional Egyptian tribal art on the left half of the spread as a visual communicational way of showing that this page is relating to
the Egyptians.
This double page spread is basically the kept the same aesthetically apart from the change of typefaces.
This double page spread is basically the exact same throughout apart from the little arrows on the precious piece and the images of Tony hart has a slight gap like the Peter Blake spread along with the change of typefaces.
I have kept this image as a visual image showing the entirety of my badge collection displayed on strings I left it as a visual because I did use it originally as a backdrop but after getting feedback from Liam who suggested I use the page as a visual element for the publication.

Conclusion
This conclusion page I have added a background to it, referring back to the photo I took of my typography out of badges from A-Z using them as a background for the page layout because I thought it was aesthetically pleasing and exciting to look at as its a unique way to make a font using objects as apposed to pen and paper.
Index Page
With the index page again I have kept It the same kind of layout throughout the publication the only changes made was the I is at a slight acute angle and the change of typeface.
With the back cover I have stuck to the same layout throughout the publication where I have kept everything the same aesthetic apart from the change of typefaces.
