Publication Layout 1

Publication Layout 1

This entry covers my first of many experiemnral lauout design concepts for mt publication, where i have decided to go for an kld fashioned aesthetic for the sake of pleasing the older generation (was thinking steriotypically admittidly) with the sort of imagery I came up woth amd after reciecing feedback from Anne bith email (which you’ll find below) and by voice on a zoom call saying it needs to be more exciting and courageous with my lauoit designs and this was when she showedme examples of layout desifn concepts ti ehich I have posted a few entries back.

This here was the drafted contence page where i laid it oit as sumetrically as clinically possible being slightly OCD i wanted it looking accurate, but inrealsie after seeing examples of layout designs why does it need to be symmetrical and so it made me think on and to think of plan B For layout design.

Experimental Layouts I wasn't keen on

I wasn't a fan on this layout because the actual page numbers isn't legible which does annoy me when there's words over words for the sake of trying to make my layouts more aesthetically pleasing, but this I didn't like very much, so I went back onto the drawing board and I went for a more symmetrical aesthetic...

The spread here is one I liked because the aesthetic of the background image is exciting but despite that it has a good aesthetic I found after getting feedback from my dad that its the wrong aesthetic to have for a badge collecting booklet it contains multiple poppies which although I have poppy badges in my collection it contradicts what my collection is as you can't tell visually its poppies unless you're seeing what I am writing about it.  But I want my front cover to show it is a badge collecting book by having imagery of badges where it shows its badges without actually telling you it is.

Double Page Spread

All poppy badges and again its fine for a background but it isn't completely the right aesthetic to say about badge collecting it isn't the best imagery for visually communicating badge collecting it instead conveys visually war and remembrance.

Constructive feedback from Anne about her view on the choice of typography, I also added jack about it and he agreed with Anne considering he said the typeface is like the sort of typeface you'd see outside a coffee shop window. Which I admit now that I think about it, I agree with that comment and has made me want to change my
design idea.
