Printed Publication

This entry consists of my publication that I printed using Doxi Direct which is basically a book printing website for printing PDF files into books. I ordered the prints the Saturday before the handin, to make sure that I get a printed hardcopy of the publication before the handin.

I am very pleased with how the printed hardcopy of the publication come out the booklet works very well and the images are very strong the typography is very strong and the quality of the prints are high-quality and it works very well I did find quite peculiar but I quite like because it involves interaction and it makes you do something when you turn over the book the spreads are actually sideways and what I like about it as well is the fact that you can turn the book yourself to read it if you want to read it the right way round and the fact that the pages are together that are the spread. What I mean is how I’ve divided the pages on in design actually in the publication there are there together so say there is pages 4 and five and they were like her separate spread they were put together sort of thing. At first the fact that the pages were sideways I don’t think I’ll really but I like that now and I’ve grown to like the idea because the book itself has asymmetric it imagery and layouts it makes sense that the imagery is sideways as well. I find that the publication is easy to read and is very legible and I’m very happy with with it and some of the double page spreads work very well where there is an A5 single page and although as much as I’m very happy with this layout I did find a orphan which I thought I change but realised I hadn’t which does annoy me ever so slightly nuts in the inventions page where I said “24 years later celluloid plastic was invented by John Wesley Hyatt in 1869 which does annoy me slightly because after learning about the role of orphans and widows in the last unit of work it mildly annoys me that other than that I found the publication a very likeable and functional book to read on badge collecting.

Binded together

This section here is of the publication when I bind it.

I was lucky the company I used that printed my publication for me stapled the manuel for me so I didn't have to bind my book together this time, which I honestly didn't expect to happen but it has worked in my favour!

I did a poster promoting my publication like it was in a publishing place, where I displayed my publication and photographed it with posters next to it, here are the posters I did below:

Poster range for the Publication

I created these posters on Adobe Photoshop 2020 carried the typefaces from InDesign from the original Book cover that I've printed and I'm very simplistically put out now with the title of the book and I then just put the photograph I took of the book below and I did a couple where the poster was showing on the actual book itself was in greyscale as well which I thought was quite exciting in terms of aesthetics.

I really wanted to milk this publication in the ways of promoting the book like I’ve published it by giving it a miniature Premier if you like for the publication where I’ve simply put the image of the front cover together from the photo shoot are taken which you’ll see the pictures below and I then simply put the title of the book and said out now just kept it simple and to the point because the front cover does the talking and the fact that the books right in front of it does the talking as well and I wanted it to be like if you are there you’ll know the book is out. I was even tempted to iron this onto

a t-shirt!!
