Motion Graphic Advert for website

Motion Graphic Advert for website

With this entry it consists of an advert trailer I made for my website, I wanted to make this as an experimental piece I could use for promoting my website and to try and engage audiences to see my website and try to convince others to see it also, that was the motive for this footage you'll be coming across below.

Trailer/Advert

This video here is an experimentational one I did because at that at the time I made this I thought I was still sticking to the audience for children more than teens and it’s very cartoon ascetic and I had feedback from my tutor and saying it what is very 1950s richer which in fairness I can understand by the typography the music sounds a bit old-fashioned then just the aesthetic of the whole video and she advised with values that one to not get too carried away because when you do website you have to keep the design consistent with the aesthetic‘s so I didn't want to go for this aesthetic for the website, not only the fact that this video is abstract and I don't think this piece should be featured on the website but I still had fun experimenting with this video.

I won’t be using it as part of my website purely for that reason and I preferred my first trailer video I made that to this one more because I put more thought into this one other one and it just works better for my audience for teenagers so I’m now looking up for the website. Especially because I wanted this piece to be an ad you come across on tv's on YouTube etc to promote my website to a wider range audience to get people interested.

This is the app I was using to make my advert for the second trailer above.

Advert Video

With this here with pin tube that was just a catchy pun to get rid of copyright on the word YouTube when I was doing nice screen recording of the trailer as an advert on YouTube that you’d come across on the website but this idea mate I don’t think I’ll put into the website as I said I’ve chosen my audience I’m sticking with the teenagers as that works best for the audience aesthetics with this project. The reason why I called it pinned tube it’s kind of obvious because badges you can get pin badges so I called it pin tube to avoid a copyrighted plagiaristic move by not calling it YouTube.

Comparison

This comparison is between aesthetics of my Trailer & Monsters ink opening theme

Monster's Ink Video                         Comparison                        My Video

With these two there are some similarities in the aesthetic's of this catching with the monsters Inc video on the left you've got the similarity with the dark and background with the abstract doors with the cartoon aesthetic with purples like colours in very simplistic text and the text is in a slightly different mannerism and different aesthetic and I would say there is another difference with my video I notice is you can see with my video and the rectangular shapes, you can see is very abstract and simplistic as well as the way they move, the rectangles move up and down and in different directions whereas with the Monsters Inc video the doors are there for a reason, to lure children in but what I liked with this was the use of the doors, dividing each letter of  the words "Walt Disney Pictures" as it kind of give you an idea on what features in the film when you watch Monsters Inc the doors correlates very well with the film feature,  whereas with mine it's just an aesthetic, so mine I would say is much more simplistic whereas Walt Disney pictures monsters Inc video is more stylistic and the purposes for the doors is there.

Remembering a throwback piece I did in year one showing my version of Saul Bass's intro 1959's Anatomy of a Murder. Here's the link to the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QccJ2L-7DVk By Saul Bass

The reason why I bought this back was more to cross reference because this video I  did there is in almost exact aesthetic as Saul Bass's version and not only that but because Saul Bass's work with this aesthetic it very much had a similar aesthetic to my video with the line movement and even the audio is very similar to how I worked with my video on my advert of my
badge collection.

Feedback

Saul Bass & My Titles

The differences with my titles and the titles here is that my ones is simplistic and more cinematic trailer where as with the psycho opening titles is positioned differently and more simplistic and that there is colour on this title.

Comparison between Psycho & Anatomy of a Murder
(Saul Bass)

With this set of work by Saul bass the differences is that psycho is typography and lines at various directions where as anatomy of a murder is solid simplistic imagery of the anatomy of a human. One is more illistrative but both abstract  which with the video I did looking at the abstract work by Saul bass inspired this aesthetic.

Psycho & My Video Comparison

With Saul Bass's motion graphics on psycho have lines going on in different directions same goes to my video accept my video contains colour and Bass's contain greyscale footage.

Anatomy of a Murder & My Video Comparison

The differences with these two is the Saul Bass video is greyscale and more illustrative where
as mine has more block colour and has a more abstract aesthetic with less illustrative
motion graphics.

Psycho & My Titles Comparison

With this difference between Psycho and my titles is again with the colour, my one contains lines going in various directions in different colours where as Psycho has more lines going in different directions and in greyscale.

Saul Bass Anatomy Of a Murder & Monsters Ink Comparison

The differences between the Saul Bass's work and the Monsters Ink Opening is the type is
more abstract on the monsters ink openings and with the Saul bass's opening is greyscale and with a more sophisticated typeface, and both have the similarity with the shapes and the
abstract footage.

Comparison on each Video

I decided to compare each video titles briefly to show my understandings as to where I found my inspirations from and why.

Psycho, Anatomy of a murder, Monsters Ink & My Video

Each of these titles are very different  but also have their similarities such as both of Anatomy of a murder videos follow a similar aesthetic using greyscale imagery  but are both abstract and as for the monsters ink video also contains cartoon abstract graphics that best suits the audience and contain colour that isn't greyscale... and with my video similarly contains colour and the aesthetic is very similar to each video the differences with the titles is that the colourful titles are cartoon aesthetic and aimed to a more childlike audience where as with the greyscale titles we come across with  contain a realistic aesthetic but also contain abstract imagery and Bass's work is aimed more for an adult audience, and are both an older fashioned video where as Monsters Ink is fairly contemporary and with my video is in a in-between contemporary and retro aesthetic where it is in the modern era with the use of colour but retro with the colour choices.
