LATCH: Location, Alphabet, Time, Category & Hierarchy

LATCH

This blog entry is about something I'd like to refer back to from what I learnt in year one. LATCH, which is to do with the following titles:

• (L)    (Location)
• (A)    (Alphabet)
• (T)   (Time)
• (C)    (Category)
• (H)    (Hierarchy)

These factors are things I will be exploring in my experimentation, recording and research purposes for the Anthology of Badges to help me question the innovations of the Editorial Process.

I wanted to create an entry on this because in the ideal and real world of Graphic Design, I when you do projects like this, these are the sort of factors I would have to explore on perhaps how I group my objects and design processes.

For instance with my badge collection, I intend on grouping them using LATCH by exploring, Location- for where I got the badges. 

As for Alphabet- For the typographic lettering or Placing them in alphabetical order for the name of the colours.

For the theme of Time- this would be a historic factor in the making- for this I intend on making a timeline of my badge collection- from the very first badge I have today. 

For the category- as I say for LATCH I am going to categorise these based on colour co-ordination, which badges have typography and which ones don't, badges I'd associate being for children and the badges I'd associate them being for Young Adults and some older adults, to help with my research on target audience, along with the materials- what the badges are made from.

As for Hierarchy finally, I will organise the collection for their height order for the similar reasons, favouritism as thats a form of hierarchy being the favourite to the worse badges.
